Abington Memorial Hospital (AMH)
, founded in 1914 by local citizens to provide convenient access to health care services, is a not-for-profit community based, regional acute care teaching hospital. AMH is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Licensed for 665 beds, AMH provides medically necessary health care services in a non-discriminatory manner to all individuals regardless of ability to pay, race, color, creed, gender, sexual preference or national origin. AMH operates an active emergency room, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year; and maintains an open medical staff, with privileges available to all qualified physicians. Abington Memorial Hospital's staff includes almost 1000 physicians and over 5000 employees.
In keeping with AMH's mission of providing care to all, the following services are available:
- an Ambulatory Services Center, an Ob/Gyn Center, psychiatric services and a Dental Clinic to serve low-income members of the community.
- Abington Family Medicine center which also provides an educational setting for the teaching of primary care physicians.
- the only accredited trauma center in Montgomery County, open to all members of the community regardless of their ability to pay.
- North Hills Health Center, a primary care center in a nearby underserved neighborhood.
- Closing the Gap program providing routine screenings (blood pressure, heart and stroke risk assessments, breast exams) and health education to diverse populations in neighborhoods, malls, churches and other venues.
Abington Health maintains a charity care policy which ensures free or low cost services to inpatients and outpatients who do not have health insurance.
AMH has a strong educational mission and sponsors five residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery and dentistry. In addition, AMH provides postgraduate medical education in affiliation with several area medical schools. The hospital also operates the Dixon School of Nursing and has programs in radiologic technology and nuclear medicine.
AMH is affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for its CHOP Connection inpatient pediatric unit. It also provides pediatric surgical services through an agreement with St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Lansdale Hospital
joined Abington Health in late 2008. With 125 licensed beds, this community hospital is situated in Hatfield Township and treats nearly 6,000 inpatient admissions and close to 60,000 outpatient visits each year. More than 22,000 people visit Lansdale Hospital's emergency department each year. Nearly 300 physicians and more than 700 employees are affiliated with the hospital.

In keeping with the mission of Abington Health, and as a 501©(3) tax-exempt organization, Lansdale Hospital offers a charity care policy to ensure free or low cost services to patients who do not have insurance. In addition we provide:
- Primary care access and specialty services through the Abington clinics, including the North Hills Health Center;
- Blood pressure screenings, heart attack and stroke risk assessments at a variety of locations;
- Community health programs on a variety of topics, including smoking cessation; CPR and first aid; diabetes education; and "dinners with the doctors" to introduce our medical staff and their specialties.
- Lansdale Hospital provides space on its campus to the North Penn VNA which offers the following services to the underserved in the North Penn/Lansdale area:
Children's Clinic - comprehensive health care for children, birth to 21, who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover
outpatient services.

Abington Health Center - Schilling Campus
in Willow Grove serves as a major satellite of Abington Memorial Hospital. Outpatient healthcare services such as laboratory testing, radiology (including MRI, mammography and x-ray), same day surgery, psychiatric services and wound and diabetes care as well as primary care physician offices are available in this convenient location. Just 10 minutes north of the hospital, the campus occupies 40 acres in five separate buildings: Blairwood (2701 Blair Mill Road); Northwood (2729 Blair Mill Road); Willowood (2510 Maryland Road); Pennwood (2500 Maryland Road); and Creekwood (3941 Commerce Avenue).
Abington Health Center - Warminster Campus
(formerly Warminster Hospital) was acquired in late 2007. A variety of outpatient services, including radiologic, laboratory, cardiac, neurologic and respiratory testing are available to serve Bucks County residents. The inpatient Hospice Center, Ob/Gyn Center (formerly on Street Road), a Sleep Disorders Center and AMH's Institute for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program are also located on that campus. A number of community health programs, including free blood pressure screenings, diabetes classes, AARP driver safety, ElderMed education sessions, and a seniors' book club are held regularly. Support groups such as Overeaters Anonymous, ALANON, Trevose Behavior Modification Group and others meet there as well. Exercise programs include "movement matters" - exercise for Parkinson's disease patients and sessions utilizing our community pool.
AMH Physicians at Montgomeryville
provides convenient access to top doctors and advanced technology for central Montgomery County residents. In addition, an open MRI and nuclear medicine stress testing, cardiology, female pelvic medicine, neurosurgery, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopaedics, pediatrics, primary care and rehabilitation services are available.
Community Health Outreach and Closing the Gap
Community Health Services provides a broad range of health education, prevention and screening programs designed to improve the health of the communities within the Abington Health service area. For a full listing of classes and programs, visit www.abingtonhealth.org.
The Closing the Gap program is designed to reach vulnerable populations who experience barriers to getting basic health services due to lack of health insurance, financial issues, language and cultural barriers and logistical concerns, such as transportation. A variety of programs are offered throughout the area at churches, shopping centers and food stores and in many ethnic neighborhoods.
