The 2008 Magnet Prize
One of the most prestigious awards in nursing, The Magnet Prize, was awarded to AMH for its Daily CARE Plan, a patient information sheet that provides current and relevant information regarding the patient's plan of care, which is distributed each day to patients and their families. This tool contains daily clinical information about the patient from the hospital's clinical information system.
Bestowed to one Magnet hospital each year by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Magnet Prize recognizes extraordinary inventions that transform work environments. This award serves as a means for acknowledging peak performance within credentialed Magnet organizations and recognizes cutting-edge research, practices, services, technologies, programs or other exemplary innovations with demonstrable positive outcomes. AMH joins the prestigious Mayo Clinic in receiving this award.
Magnet Re-designation
Awarded first in 2003, AMH's nursing service has received Magnet re-designation, which is one of the nation's highest forms of recognition for nursing excellence. Only 13 other hospitals in the State of Pennsylvania, and just five percent of hospitals nationwide (289), have received this four-year accreditation that will be effective until 2012.
Awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Magnet designation recognizes quality patient care and exemplary nursing leadership. The application process involves a voluntary peer review whereby a team of registered nurses with experience in quality indicators, nursing administration and nursing care appraises a hospital's nursing services, clinical outcomes and patient care delivery.
Established in 1993, the Magnet Recognition Program for Excellence in Nursing Services is the highest level of recognition by the ANCC available to facilities that provide excellent nursing care.
