About the HIS Department

The Health Information Systems (HIS) Department provides computer and applications services that respond to the needs of Abington Memorial Hospital. Client satisfaction is our highest priority and we understand the important role that information technology plays in patient care. We also understand the importance of information to the hospital. Accurate, timely, and efficient information is critical to those making healthcare decisions and our department defines success in terms of the quality service provided to the user community.

Abington Memorial Hospital's comprehensive, integrated information systems, which include 96 software applications, one mainframe, 14 minicomputers, 300 servers and 3,000 PCs, enable the hospital to accomplish its administrative responsibilities to support research, teaching, and patient care.

Abington Memorial Hospital is committed towards education and training in Information Technology. Take advantage of Abington Memorial Hospital's Information Technology and Management Certificate Program, which provides hands-on training and classes offered by Penn State University-Abington. Expand your knowledge of Information Technology by learning new skills through this certificate program. This program is available to all eligible Health Information Systems employees – free of charge. Courses are conveniently offered during early evening hours and dinner is provided at the Abington Health Center – Schilling Campus in Willow Grove.
