All students, staff, and others are encouraged to report criminal and suspicious activity on a 24/7 basis to Abington Memorial Hospital Security by calling 215-481-2828, by using the in-house emergency phone extension of "777", or by using one of various panic and emergency alarms located throughout Abington Memorial Hospital facilities.
Each Abington Memorial Hospital location has a list of crime statistics compiled for each campus location for the previous three years. Crime statistics are gathered daily by Abington Memorial Hospital's Security Department investigations officer from local police departments. Crime statistics are also evaluated based on daily newspaper police logs and use of a proprietary crime statistics data base, the Cap Index. Crime statistics can be found both from this website and from the official AMH Police log located in the Abington Memorial Hospital Main Campus Security Dispatch Station (215-481-2828).
The official log is available for inspection during normal business hours. The official log is updated as information becomes available. The official, daily log records are available for the last six months. Official, daily log data is kept for a period of three years following the most recent publication of the annual security report. The electronic version of the log attempts to be as accurate as possible, listing crimes per category, per year. However, it is not the official log. Abington Memorial Hospital's Security Department investigations officer is also responsible for reporting yearly crime statistics to the U.S. Department of Education.
Through the use of the Cap Index, AMH provides inspection of vicinities within a two-mile radius of each campus in which crime risk ratings are provided in comparison with average county, state, and national average crime statistics related to the same major crimes which are listed in other categories in this report. The Cap Index report is located within the daily Police log for inspection by the public.
Lastly, sex offender data can be found at the following website: http://www.pameganslaw.state.pa.us/
Security of, and Access to, campus facilities
Access control to campus locations is controlled by a variety of photo ID-card access and pin code key pad door locking control systems.
Students must register for access and classification assignment. Email notifications for classification assignments or ID badge registry must be submitted to the Security Department by School management staff.
During normal business hours, Schilling campus schools are normally open for public access, with periodic patrol by an AMH Security Officer who is stationed at the Schilling Campus. During evening hours on Mondays through Wednesdays, Security is stationed from morning through to 9 p.m. Security posts, patrols, and assignments may vary to suit the schedules and needs of the schools.
Escorts to vehicles may be facilitated by dialing 215-481-2828 (Security Dispatcher) or by contacting Properties Department staff at 215-481-5810 if AMH Security is not available.
Visitors and guests to the schools are processed and cleared by school reception staff.
Evacuations from schools are facilitated, documented, and coordinated at least twice yearly be Safety and Properties Department staff in conjunction with fire drills.
