Abington Department of Medicine
Abington Memorial Hospital is a major clinical campus for the Temple University School of Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. A teaching atmosphere is present throughout the medical service, which incorporates second, third, and fourth year medical students. Abington offers medical students a clinical experience to broaden their urban/city exposure. The department hosts third- and fourth-year medical students for both the internal medicine clerkship and subspecialty four-year elective. Approximately, 40 percent of Temple students, 10 percent of PCOM students and 15 percent of Drexel fourth-year students rotate through the department of medicine at AMH.
Physician Assistant students are also assigned to the general medicine service at Abington. Students receive instruction in physical diagnosis, general medicine, subspecialty electives and sub-internships. The student's presence fosters an inquiring and scholarly approach for both housestaff and faculty.
