Community Connections
We in the Pastoral Care department at Abington Memorial Hospital are deeply committed to caring for the whole patient, which includes attending to diverse spiritual, cultural and religious needs of patients, families and staff.
Religious Observances
- Holy Communion is distributed every Sunday morning for Catholic patients.
- Challah bread is distributed to Jewish patients each Friday by volunteers from the Jewish Family and Children Services
- Prayer mats for Muslim patients, families and staff are available in the back closet of the Harbison Memorial Chapel. These mats are to remain in the chapel.
- An interfaith calendar is posted outside the Harbison Chapel each month, and also distributed to hospital staff via the pastoral services newsletter “Spiritual Care Notes”
