Procedures

In order to perform procedures independently at Abington Memorial Hospital, residents must

1. Complete the cognitive curriculum (see program administrator / Chief residents for details)

2. Log a minimum number of supervised procedures

The following are the minimum number of successfully completed supervised procedures required to be logged into our database for a resident physician to able to perform a procedure independently at Abington Memorial Hospital:

All procedures must be logged into Meditrek.com. Only after successful completion of the minimum number of procedures are you allowed to perform them independently.

Arterial Puncture 5

Arterial line 3

Insertion of NG Tube 3

Abdominal Paracentesis 3

Central Venous Access

Internal Jugular 5

Subclavian 5

Lumbar Puncture 5

Thoracentesis 5

NG tube with guidewire 3

Arthrocentesis 3

If your supervising attending does not have a password into Meditrek to sign off, please print out the the Meditrek form that you have completed, have the attending sign off on it and return it to Heather.
