"It's not about the surgery, it's about you.
The difference between before the surgery
and after the surgery is that after the
surgery you now have the tools to
successfully lose weight." — Fernando B.
Bonanni, Jr., M.D., director, Abington
Memorial Hospital Institute for Metabolic
and Bariatric Surgery.

We know that weight loss surgery is not a magic bullet, but it's the important first step, the beginning of a lifelong commitment that leads to a much healthier body and lifestyle. That's why we offer our patients a comprehensive approach to weight loss that features a full range of services, including ongoing support, counseling, an exercise program, a nutrition plan, and all of the surgical options available performed as a laparoscopic, robotic or conventional procedure.

The Institute works with our Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery to provide surgery without exposure to donated blood or primary blood components, by patient request.

Procedures offered:

  • Gastric Banding
  • Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass (open, laparoscopic and robotic)
  • Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch (open, laparoscopic and robotic)
  • StomaphyX

To determine if weight loss surgery is right for you, join us for an information session held twice a month at two convenient locations, Abington Memorial Hospital and Lansdale Hospital.
