Emergency Care

Immediate medical care should be sought at Abington Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Trauma Center or the nearest emergency room if the following signs or symptoms are present:

  • Headaches that worsen
  • Seizures
  • Extremely drowsy/cannot be awakened
  • Repeated vomiting
  • Slurred speech
  • Inability to recognize people or places
  • Increasing confusion or irritability
  • Weakness or numbness in arms or legs
  • One pupil larger than the other
  • Loss of consciousness (even briefly)
  • Unusual behavior

If there is any doubt about whether a player is suffering a concussion, emergent treatment should be sought. Abington Memorial Hospital’s trauma and emergency medicine specialists are available 24/7 at our Emergency Trauma Center at 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA.
