Colon Cancer and Rectal Cancer Treatments

Targeted Therapy

(Also see Cancer / Treatments / Targeted Therapy)

Drugs used as targeted therapies inhibit cancer growth or trigger the body’s immune system to attack cancer cells.

There are targeted therapies for many cancers. Inhibitor treatments block pathways that allow cancer to grow. Monoclonal antibodies create an immune response to cancer cells.

This process, sometimes called immunotherapy, can target and kill cancer cells or deliver other treatments, such as chemotherapy medicines.
