Lung Cancer Treatments
(Also see Cancer / Treatments / Interventional Radiology)
Some patients whose lung cancer diagnosis would indicate surgery as a treatment are not surgical candidates due to frailty, advanced age or other health concerns.
Radiofrequency ablation, an interventional radiology (IR) procedure, is a minimally-invasive option for lung cancer treatment. This localized and targeted therapy uses radiofrequency energy heat to destroy tumors by heating them from within.
Our interventional radiologists are highly trained physicians who use X-ray, ultrasound, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) imaging to safely guide their work.
