Cardiothoracic Surgery
Welcome to cardiothoracic surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital.
The first open heart procedure at Abington Memorial Hospital was performed in 1996. Since that time, the program has evolved, combining a university repertoire with the warmth and convenience of a community setting. The program's reputation extends far beyond Abington now, drawing patients from as far north as New York City and as far south as Baltimore.
Patients Come First in the OR
If the thought of surgery has you wondering how you'll
handle the anxiety of entering the operating room on
your scheduled day, then you'll be encouraged to hear
about Abington's patient-friendly operating rooms.
Read about our Sacred Space program.
Abington has become a model for cardiac programs throughout the country, as cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, advance practice professionals, pulmonary medicine specialists, and anesthesiologists have come together to create a team that can anticipate each other's strengths and needs in a way only seasoned professionals can.
At Abington, everyone is aligned along the same vision – a commitment of service to the patients we see. Every aspect of care is coordinated. We even have a family liaison whose sole mission is to ensure that relatives and caretakers receive the same consideration and care as the patient. Here, every patient and loved one matters.
I hope you'll take time to read what our patients say about us in the patient testimonials on these pages. You'll find our success is measured by their kind words and by our clinical results.
It is a privilege for me to be part of this program. Please know that I am always just a phone call away, 24 hours a day, at 215-481-4200.
Sincerely,
Mauricio J. Garrido, M.D.
