Anesthesiology

The primary goal of anesthesiology is to prevent and relieve pain while simultaneously providing for safety. Abington's anesthesiologists are skilled in the use of general anesthesia, as well as other anesthetic techniques including regional blocks. The anesthesiologist may discuss the pain relief options available with the patient. The anesthesiologist administers the anesthesia and monitors the patient during and after the procedure, both at the hospital and at the Abington Surgical Center, Abington Health Center – Schilling Campus, in Willow Grove. Anesthesiologists are also responsible for administering anesthesia and analgesia for maternity patients. (www.abingtonanesthesia.com)
