Pathologists and technologists in the hospital's laboratory provide a full range of diagnostic services. Utilizing the most sophisticated computerized and robotic test equipment, the laboratory evaluates blood, body fluids, and tissue samples to help diagnose and treat virtually every type of disease. The robotic laboratory equipment utilizes state-of-the-art technology to help ensure patient safety and provide rapid turnaround of results. The laboratory provides computer on-line ordering and results to physicians for both inpatients and outpatients. The laboratory is also responsible for providing blood and blood products for transfusion to patients. For laboratory tests, patients may go to the hospital, the Levy Medical Plaza Building at 1235 Old York Road, the Abington Health Center – Schilling Campus in Willow Grove, or Integral Imaging @ Southampton, 965 Street Road in Southampton. In addition, when necessary, the hospital's laboratory technicians visit people in their homes and at long-term care facilities served by the hospital laboratory to collect specimens.
