Program Description

The outpatient psychiatric services of Abington Memorial Hospital are known as the Creekwood Center. The entire staff of the center is dedicated to providing speedy, comprehensive evaluations, medication management and all types of therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Conditions treated include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • ADHD
  • obsessive-compulsive disorders
  • eating disorders
  • stress reactions
  • interpersonal and relationship problems
  • family problems
  • school problems
  • employment problems
  • marital problems
  • post-traumatic disorders
  • psychotic disorders and major mental illnesses

Treatment Team

The Creekwood Center uses a multidisplinary treatment team approach with all its patients. Each team may be composed of an adult or child psychiatrist, a psychologist and a social worker who are trained and experienced in evaluating and treating the emotional problems of adults and children.

Program Services

The Adult Services division of the Creekwood Center (age 18 and over) provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for adults. The center offers the following types of therapy:

  • individual therapy
  • group therapy
  • couples therapy
  • cognitive/behavioral therapy
  • medication management
  • supportive therapy
  • stress management
  • family therapy

The Children's Services division of the Creekwood Center (infancy to age 18) provides comprehensive child, adolescent and family assessments by a master's level psychotherapist and/or child and adolescent psychiatrist. The following types of therapy are offered:

  • individual therapy
  • play therapy
  • family therapy
  • cognitive/behavioral therapy
  • family education
  • medication management

Active involvement of parents and family members is strongly encouraged.
