Vascular ultrasounds provide a non-invasive method of detecting serious problems such as abdominal aneurysms, blockages in the carotid artery leading to the brain (which can lead to stroke), blood clots, and other conditions.

Vascular ultrasounds may be performed to examine:

  • Blood flow in the abdomen
  • The carotid artery in the neck
  • The arteries and veins in the legs or arms
  • The kidneys and their blood vessels
