About ElderMed at Abington Memorial Hospital

Abington Memorial Hospital sponsors the ElderMed program in our community as a free service.

ElderMed is dedicated to helping people age 50 or older to stay well and well-informed. Members are invited to take advantage of a variety of health, fitness and social programs. Health education, screening activities and other events are held throughout the year. To join ElderMed, please call 215-481-5740.

Free Information and Screenings

As an ElderMed member, you'll receive information on many activities throughout the year including:

  • Free informational sessions and physician screenings for breast, prostate and skin cancer
  • Free blood pressure testing
  • Free education programs on a variety of topics, such as cardiac health, orthopaedic care, sleep disorders, foot care and more
  • Free subscription to Newsline, a quarterly newsletter covering local events and information
  • ElderMed members may also contact our Physician Referral Service 215-481-6334, for detailed background information on Abington Memorial Hospital physicians and other hospital services.

Make New Friends

ElderMed sponsors social events throughout the year. These include group trips to theaters and museums; opportunities to join a book club or bowling league and group travel locally and beyond.

The ElderMed coordinator at Abington Memorial Hospital is your personal contact for help with your healthcare concerns. The coordinator provides information and easy access to the resources and services available to you through the hospital and in the community.

Abington Memorial Hospital offers ElderMed members special reduced rates on our products and services, including Abington Fitness Institute memberships, nutritional counseling services, and specific prescription and non-prescription medications from the Alliance Pharmacy.

ElderHelp Phoneline

ElderMed members and their families can call this special phone service to speak to our trained volunteers about services and assistance available in the community. Many of the volunteers are also ElderMed members, and understand the concerns of senior members. They will help identify resources or services that may be of benefit to you.

The service is free to everyone over the age of 50, and all calls are confidential. Call ElderHelp at 215-481-5750.
