Breastfeeding Support Services
Breastfeeding Your Baby
Breastfeeding offers many benefits for moms and their babies – breast milk is a healthy way to feed your newborn. This is also a special time to bond with your baby. As a regional leader in maternity services, Abington Memorial Hospital offers resources and education to help you get started. Our lactation consultants provide information, support and services for mothers during their inpatient stay, and/or after leaving the hospital.
Education and Phone Support
Lactation consultants are available during your postpartum stay. Staff members also follow up with phone calls after discharge. For questions or concerns while you are breastfeeding, a Breastfeeding Support Services Warmline is available at 215-481-6104. The Warmline is monitored by lactation consultants, certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Examiners, who will return your call within 24 to 72 hours. For urgent needs or questions, please consult your physician.
